  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 2 onions (1 finely diced, 1 sliced)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth (low sodium)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Seasonings: salt, black pepper, garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper. Form into 6–8 oval patties.
  3. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium heat and brown each patty for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter until soft. Sprinkle flour over onions and cook for an additional two minutes.
  5. Whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth and thickened.
  6. Nestle the browned patties into the gravy and cover with a lid or foil. Bake for about 45 minutes; uncover and bake for another 15 minutes.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
