  • 3 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 TBSP Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar (packed light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 2 Bananas (ripe and mashed)
  • 3/4 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 2 TBSP Heavy cream (cold)
  • White granulated sugar (for the tops of the scones)
  • 2 oz Cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup Powdered sugar
  • 3/4 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 2 TBSP Milk
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, mix mashed bananas, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and beaten egg until combined.
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and fold gently until just combined.
  6. Turn out onto a floured surface; shape into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges.
  7. Place on prepared baking sheet; brush tops with heavy cream and sprinkle with sugar.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For the glaze, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, milk, and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over cooled scones.
