  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 lbs tart green apples (like Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup sugar + 2 tbsp (divided)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust by rolling it out and fitting it into your pie plate; refrigerate while prepping the filling.
  3. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice.
  4. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, cloves, and salt in another bowl; mix with the apple slices until evenly coated.
  5. Fill the prepared crust with the apple mixture and pour cream mixed with vanilla extract over top.
  6. Sprinkle remaining sugar on top and bake for 15 minutes at 450°F before lowering to 350°F (176°C) for an additional 55-65 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating for at least six hours.
