  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices sourdough or white bread
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and break it apart as it cooks. Add the onion and garlic halfway through cooking until the onions become translucent.
  2. Season with salt and pepper; stir in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Simmer until the mixture thickens.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread and preheat a skillet.
  4. Assemble sandwiches by placing two slices of bread in the skillet butter-side down, then layer cheddar cheese, the beef mixture, mozzarella cheese, and top with another slice of bread butter-side up.
  5. Cook for about 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
